Inpatient Pharmacist — Boone, NC | 13-Week Contract
This inpatient pharmacy position is based in North Carolina and operates within a 24/7 pharmacy department serving a full-service hospital. Shifts are scheduled as 4x10-hour days, with hours between 09:00 and 19:00 (no extension past 9:00 PM). The primary schedule runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Verify medication orders, screening for patient allergies, drug-drug interactions, and drug-disease state interactions
- Conduct medication reconciliation against home medication profiles
- Utilize pharmacist-to-dose consult protocols and collaborate with physicians, residents, and interdisciplinary team members
- Check IV admixtures for accuracy and patient safety in compliance with USP 797/800 standards
- Provide responsive customer service to clinical teammates in person and by phone
Requirements
- PharmD degree required
- Active North Carolina pharmacy license (or license pending with confirmed ETA)
- Minimum one (1) year of inpatient pharmacist experience
- Experience with pharmacist-to-dose protocols strongly preferred
- Recent inpatient charting system experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 40 miles from the facility
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Willingness to float within the hospital as needed
