Registered Nurse – Operating Room
Position Overview
The facility's operating room is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a busy surgical team. You'll work in a dynamic environment performing a wide range of general and specialty surgical cases.
Shift & Schedule
- Days: 4x10 hours (9:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Weekends: 1 weekend per 6 weeks
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Floating: No
- On-call: Optional
- Holidays: Optional
Requirements
- License: Active Pennsylvania or compact RN license
- Certification: BLS required
- Education: BSN required
- Experience: Minimum 2 years OR experience; first-time travelers accepted with appropriate background
- Specialization: Level II trauma experience required
Clinical Scope
You'll scrub the following specialty cases: general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, urology, gynecology, vascular, thoracic, ENT, endoscopy, and trauma procedures. You must be competent in total joint replacement, minimally invasive techniques, hybrid OR procedures, and robotic-assisted surgery.
Required Competencies
- Code response, fire safety, latex allergy precautions, malignant hyperthermia awareness
- Blood and blood product administration, infection control, laser and radiation safety
- Specimen handling, universal protocol/time-out procedures, wound management, urinary catheterization
Equipment & Tools
Experience with electrosurgical units and fiber-optic light sources required. Preferred: Cell Saver, Hana Table, and Steris systems.
Preferred Experience
Orthopedic, urologic, endoscopic, vascular, thoracic, neuro/neuro spine, bariatric, plastic, ENT, podiatric, and transplant surgery.
