Diagnostic Ultrasound / Sonographer — Travel Contract

Waterloo, IA | Days, 5x8s (Mon–Fri) | 13 Weeks

This outpatient/inpatient ultrasound position covers a broad scope of general, OB/GYN, and vascular imaging in a busy department averaging approximately 15 scans per day. Start times vary between 0600–1000 based on daily staffing and case volume.

Clinical Scope

• Abdominal and small parts imaging, including RUQ with liver vessel evaluation, kidneys, bladder, thyroid, aorta, and scrotum/testicle
• Transabdominal and transvaginal pelvic imaging
• OB imaging: 1st trimester (transabdominal and transvaginal), limited 2nd/3rd trimester (BPP, measurements, fluid checks) — non-high-risk only
• Vascular: upper and lower venous duplex, lower arterial doppler, ABIs, carotid duplex, hepatic and renal doppler
• Procedural assist (fine needle aspiration, paracentesis, thoracentesis) — preferred, not required

Call Requirements

• Weeknight call: Mon–Fri, 9 PM–6 AM (rotating among day staff)
• Weekend call: as needed, 6:30 PM–6 AM

Holiday Commitment

Travelers are required to work 1–2 of the 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of sonographer/vascular experience
• ARDMS (AB) — required
• ARDMS (RVT) and ARDMS (OB/GYN) — highly preferred
• BLS (AHA or ARC) — required
• First-time travelers considered with qualifying experience

Note: Must reside 50+ miles from the facility per local radius policy.
