PCU / Progressive Care Nurse — Night Shift | Eureka, CA

13-Week Travel Contract | Nights 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12-Hour Shifts

This progressive care unit serves adult and geriatric patients requiring close cardiac monitoring and intermediate-level acuity care. The unit supports a broad range of diagnoses including pre- and post-cardiac catheterization, pre- and post-cardiac surgery, and ongoing telemetry management.

Shift & Scheduling

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks | Start: November 16, 2026
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All time-off requests must be submitted upfront at time of application
• Floating to nearby sister facilities may be required; refusal may affect guaranteed hours

Clinical Skills Required

• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Blood product administration
• Cardiac drip management (no titration)
• Central line and PICC line care
• Feeding tube care and management
• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Heparin protocol management
• Isolation precautions/PPE
• Pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of PCU, stepdown, or ICU experience; experience must be current (within the last 6 months)
• Active compact RN license — must be in hand at time of submission
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• 2 professional references covering the past 3 years
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are accepted under local guidelines
