Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Registered Nurse

Manchester, NH | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This Progressive Care unit primarily serves cardio-thoracic and vascular surgical patients, with occasional general medical progressive care admissions. The unit runs at a moderate-to-high acuity level, requiring strong telemetry skills and comfort managing complex post-surgical presentations.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Every third weekend required; no on-call obligation

Clinical Scope

Nurses on this unit routinely manage chest tubes, epicardial and transvenous pacemakers, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP. Common procedures include thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, and pericardiocentesis with drains left in place post-procedure. Experience with cardiac drips such as dobutamine, dopamine, and norepinephrine is highly valued.

Required Skills

• Telemetry proficiency *(required)*
• Chest tube experience *(required)*
• Cardiac drip management — dobutamine, dopamine, levophed *(preferred)*
• External pacemaker experience *(preferred)*

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• BLS
• Active New Hampshire RN license at time of submission

Float Expectations

May float to Progressive Care and Telemetry units as needed.
