Neuro Stepdown Nurse – 13-Week Contract

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for a neuro stepdown unit serving adult and geriatric patients. You'll provide care for post-neurosurgical patients, those with intracranial bleeds, CVAs, seizure disorders, and spinal cord injuries. This role requires strong assessment skills, neurological monitoring expertise, and the ability to manage complex post-acute care in a fast-paced environment.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 4x12-hour shifts (07:00 – 19:30)
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekend Commitment: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle, plus minimum one holiday shift (including holiday weekend)

• Float Requirement: Required to float to like units or lower-acuity stepdown/telemetry units across the health system (5 hospitals) as needed, excluding the ED

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• RN license (CA, Temp or Perm)
• AHA BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• 2+ years concurrent stepdown/neuro experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• Valid supervisor-level reference

Clinical Scope

You'll manage patients requiring cardiac drips (non-titration), vasoactive drips, high-flow oxygen, tracheostomy care, PICC/central line management, epidural analgesia, and post-operative monitoring. You'll interpret ABGs, manage dysrhythmias, and coordinate with rapid response teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, and social services.
