Emergency Room RN — Night Shift | Santa Cruz, CA

13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Nights | 36 Guaranteed Hours/Week

This high-volume ER in Santa Cruz, CA is seeking experienced travel RNs for night shift coverage. The unit manages a diverse mix of adult and pediatric patients, with an average of 150 patient visits per day. Patient presentations range from acute and emergent conditions to short-term psychiatric holds. The department includes a fast track area staffed by mid-level providers.

Shift Details

• 12-hour nights; start times of 5p or 7p
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays rotate with permanent staff
• Block scheduling is not available
• Float requirement: None
• Orientation: 2 shifts, unit-specific

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
• Moderate Conscious Sedation competency testing required prior to start

Clinical Environment

• Charge RN and PCT support on unit
• Hospitalist/Intensivist in-house 24/7
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Ventilator management expected
• Daytime pharmacy presence in the ER
• Scrubs: Navy

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Must be ready to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
• Experience with a diverse patient population, including a significant homeless population, is beneficial
• Active California RN license required prior to submission

Candidates must be comfortable jumping in with minimal ramp-up time. Duo scheduling is not guaranteed — each traveler will be scheduled based on unit need.
