Stepdown & Floor RN | Morgantown, WV | 13-Week Contract
This combined Stepdown and Floor unit cares for a general medical-surgical population with a subset of higher-acuity stepdown patients. Common diagnoses include chest pain, COPD, altered mental status, ia, UTI, abdominal pain, and overflow from various services. The unit also manages patients transitioning to general inpatient hospice care.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weekend-focused schedule: Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Sunday/Monday rotations
- 2 weekends required per schedule block; holiday participation integrated with staff schedule
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Clinical Details
- Stepdown patients receive titratable drips; floor patients receive PCAs, heparin, and similar set-rate infusions
- Telemetry is available throughout the unit; RNs must independently read rhythm strips in conjunction with dedicated monitor techs
- Charge nurse coverage is built into staffing; a house supervisor is always on-site
- Nurse aides support the team when fully staffed
Float & Cancellation
- Float may occur to other floor or stepdown units within the facility
- Up to 2 cancellations allowed per 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license (facility will wait for licensure)
- BLS certification
- Comfort with telemetry strip interpretation
- Med-surg or stepdown experience preferred
- BSN not required
- COVID vaccination required (exemption process available)
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
