Stepdown / Medical-Surgical RN — Night Shift | Morgantown, WV
13-Week Contract | 36 Guaranteed Hours/Week | Nights
This combined stepdown and medical-surgical unit provides care across a mixed acuity setting. The stepdown side manages higher-acuity patients while the floor side handles a broad general medical-surgical population.
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Two weekends per schedule | Holidays worked into permanent staff rotation
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
- Typical diagnoses include chest pain, COPD, altered mental status, ia, UTI, and abdominal pain
- Overflow patients from multiple services
- Hospice patients, including transitions to GIP Hospice status
- Stepdown nurses manage titratable drips; floor nurses manage PCAs, heparin, and similar infusions
- Telemetry-monitored unit; RNs must be able to independently read strips alongside monitor techs
Requirements
- Active RN license (facility will wait for licensure)
- BLS certification
- Comfortable floating to any floor or stepdown unit as needed
Unit Support
- Dedicated charge nurse per unit (not pulled from ratio)
- House supervisor available at all times
- Nurse aides present when fully staffed
Additional Details
- Scrubs: Royal Blue
- Cancellation policy: up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract
- COVID vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis
- Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
