PCU / Stepdown

Stepdown & Medical-Surgical RN | Night Shift | Morgantown, WV

This 13-week travel contract places you on a combined Stepdown and Medical-Surgical unit managing a broad acute-care patient population. The unit operates across both stepdown-level and floor-level acuity, with common diagnoses including chest pain, COPD, altered mental status, ia, UTI, abdominal pain, and GIP hospice overflow.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Rotating weekend schedule: Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday
• 2 weekends required per scheduling period
• Holiday work required per the unit's rotating schedule
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week

Clinical Scope

• Stepdown patients: higher acuity with titratable drips
• Floor patients: PCAs, heparin, and set-rate infusions
• Telemetry monitoring in place; RNs must be able to independently read rhythm strips alongside monitor techs
• Nurse aides available when fully staffed
• Respiratory therapy manages ventilator and CPAP/BiPAP equipment

Unit Support

• Dedicated charge nurse coverage and House Supervisor available at all times
• Floating may be required to other floor or stepdown units within the facility
• Cancellation policy: up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license (facility will consider candidates while licensure is pending)
• BLS certification
• COVID-19 vaccination required; medical or religious exemption process available
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• BSN not required

Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
