Certified Surgical Technologist
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join its operating room team. You'll prepare operating rooms, handle surgical instruments, maintain sterile fields, and provide direct intra-operative support across multiple surgical specialties.
Shift & Schedule
- 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- 5 days per week
- On-call availability required
- Holiday and weekend work expected
- 13-week contract
Clinical Scope
You'll support surgeries in orthopaedic trauma, neurosurgery, robotic-assisted procedures across multiple specialties, and ENT cases, including radical neck dissections. Responsibilities include:
- Pre-operative setup of sterile equipment and patient preparation
- Intra-operative instrument passing and tissue retraction assistance
- Post-operative duties: applying dressings, preparing specimens, and room turnover
- Maintaining strict adherence to sterile technique and Standard Precautions
Requirements
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist credential
- Current professional license (verified via Nursys)
- Required vaccinations: MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Tdap, Varicella
- Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Fit testing and drug screening
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high-acuity environment
- Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment in time-sensitive situations
