Assistant Director of Nursing – Adult Psychiatry
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced nursing leader to serve as Assistant Director of Nursing for the Adult Psychiatry unit. This is a clinical and administrative leadership role responsible for overseeing unit operations, staff performance, and quality outcomes on the night shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clinical leadership for the assigned psychiatry unit
- Oversee daily staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure safe patient care
- Monitor unit performance metrics, quality indicators, and regulatory compliance
- Support staff development, performance evaluations, and corrective actions
- Serve as clinical resource and escalation point for complex patient care or staffing issues
- Collaborate with physicians, department leaders, and hospital administration
- Facilitate staff meetings, education, and onboarding
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and accreditation standards
- Participate in budget planning and process improvement initiatives
- Address patient and family concerns
Requirements
- Active RN license (NYS; primary source verification required)
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Master's degree preferred)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 7 years of clinical nursing experience; 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Strong leadership, performance management, and communication skills
- Proficiency in English (read, write, speak)
Shift & Duration
- Night shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- 13-week contract
- Start date: November 17, 2026
