About the Unit

This cardiac holding unit provides pre- and post-procedure care for patients undergoing heart catheterization, cardiac cath, and electrophysiology procedures. Nurses are primarily assigned to cardiac holding with float support to vascular and diagnostic cardiology as needed. Clinical focus includes groin and radial site management, TR band management, and post-procedure recovery and monitoring.

Schedule & Expectations

• Monday–Friday days; no weekends required
• Contractors are expected to work 1–2 winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• On-call and callback coverage may apply

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 15 months of Cardiac Cath Lab, Critical Care, and/or PACU experience in a hospital setting
• Pre/post-op or recovery experience
• Groin and radial site management experience
• TR band management experience
• 24 months of current Cardiac Cath Lab, PACU, or Pre/Post Op Surgery experience reflected in work history
• BLS (AHA or ARC) — active and current
• ACLS (AHA) — active and current
• Iowa RN license required
• Valid driver's license required
• Skills checklist specific to Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Pre/Post Op required
