Labor & Delivery / Postpartum — Travel RN

Oxnard, CA | 13-Week Contract | Nights 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

This combined L&D/Postpartum unit manages high-risk deliveries across all gestational ages, including EMT drop-offs, patients with substance abuse or withdrawal, and those with no prenatal care. The patient population is diverse, with a high proportion of Spanish-speaking patients. Complex cases are transferred out to a higher-level facility as needed.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required (first to float)
• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Call is optional but preferred; discuss availability during the interview
• Holiday coverage shared with permanent staff (typically one major, one minor)

Float Requirements

• L&D nurses must have postpartum experience and will float to postpartum and NICU (grower/feeder assignments)
• Postpartum nurses do not need L&D experience but may assist with in-scope tasks in L&D or NICU

Required Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, NRP
• Fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN intermediate or advanced)
• S.T.A.B.L.E. preferred

Clinical Details

• C-section circulation required; scrubbing experience not required (OB techs scrub)
• Nurses follow AWHONN staffing guidelines
• OB/neonatology available and on call 24/7; respiratory therapy and pharmacy available around the clock
• Orientation: 3 shifts
• Scrub color: Navy

Candidate Requirements

• 2–3 years of L&D/PP RN experience
• At least one prior travel contract preferred
• Active CA RN license required

*Guaranteed 36 hours per week. Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.*
