Medical/Surgical Nurse – Night Shift | Santa Cruz, CA
13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
This busy Medical/Surgical unit is seeking an experienced travel nurse with a strong clinical foundation and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Travelers will have an established home-base unit with floating required between both MedSurg units.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Clinical Scope
- General medical/surgical patient population with varied diagnoses
- Telemetry monitoring required — must be comfortable reading EKG strips and caring for tele patients
- Respiratory therapy available around the clock
- IV and PICC line team available during daytime hours
- Pharmacy support available 24/7
- Hospitalist in-house for support
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of solid MedSurg experience (night shift)
- BLS certification required
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a humble, collaborative approach
Unit Details
- Scrub color: Navy
- PCT support available based on census
- Charge nurse present on unit (non-patient assignment)
- Orientation: two unit-specific shifts provided (one per unit)
- Two-interview process: initial clinical screening followed by an on-unit interview
Contract Details
- Start date: November 9, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks (91 days)
- Cancellation policy: up to 4 shifts may be canceled during a 13-week assignment
