Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) — Travel RN

This CICU assignment places you in a high-acuity cardiac critical care environment managing complex patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring and mechanical support. The unit operates as an RN-only model with no HUC or PCT support, making independent clinical judgment essential.
Schedule & Contract Details
- 13-week contract, with a potential 91-week extended commitment
- 36 hours/week, 12-hour night shifts
- Alternating weekend requirement
- Float to other areas required
Clinical Scope & Procedures
The unit manages critically ill cardiac patients and regularly performs or assists with cardioversion, central line insertion, bronchoscopy, EGD, chest tube insertion, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis. Mechanical circulatory support and renal replacement therapy are routine components of care.
Required Skills & Experience
- Prior ICU experience required
- Titration of vesicant medications
- Vasopressor, sedation, and paralytic management
- Ventilator and tracheostomy management
- Telemetry interpretation
- Hemodynamic monitoring including PA catheter setup and interpretation
- Transvenous pacing, cardioversion, and TEE familiarity
- Chest tube insertion and maintenance
Preferred Skills
- IABP, Impella, and CRRT experience strongly valued
Certifications
- No certifications required; CCRN recommended
Dress Code
- All navy or navy and white scrubs required
- No pullovers, hoodies, or green scrubs
