Critical Care RN – CICU | Asheville, NC | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This opportunity is for an experienced Critical Care RN to join a fast-paced Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in Asheville, North Carolina. The unit manages high-acuity cardiac patients and performs advanced bedside procedures, requiring nurses who are confident and skilled in a complex critical care environment.

Shift & Schedule

  • Night shift: 18:45–07:15
  • 36 hours/week | 12-hour shifts | Alternating weekends
  • Travelers may float to other areas of the facility

Clinical Scope & Procedures

The CICU team performs cardioversion, central line insertion, bronchoscopy, EGD, chest tube insertions, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis. The unit is RN-only — no unit secretaries or patient care techs.

Required Skills

  • Titration of vesicant medications
  • Familiarity with pressors, sedation, and paralytics
  • Ventilator and tracheostomy management
  • Telemetry interpretation
  • Hemodynamic monitoring, PA catheter setup and interpretation
  • Transvenous pacing and cardioversion
  • Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) familiarity

Preferred/Advanced Skills

  • IABP, Impella, and CRRT experience strongly valued
  • CCRN certification appreciated but not required

Certifications

  • No certifications required; CCRN recommended

Dress Code

  • All Navy or Navy and White scrubs
  • No pullovers, hoodies, or green scrubs

Contract Details

  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36/week
  • Start Date: October 11, 2026

ICU experience is required. Candidates with cardiac or mixed medical-surgical ICU backgrounds and advanced device experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
