Medical ICU (MICU) | Registered Nurse

Salem, VA | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This MICU position offers a night shift schedule (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) in a focused critical care unit managing high-acuity adult patients. The unit operates with flexible staffing ratios and a collaborative team structure across day and night shifts.

Clinical Scope

The unit cares for complex, critically ill patients and routinely performs:

• External ventricular drain (EVD) management
• Sustained low-efficiency dialysis (SLED)
• Central line care
• Paracentesis and thoracentesis
• Lumbar drain management
• Targeted temperature management (TTM)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• ACLS and BLS certifications
• Prior ICU experience (required)

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• TNCC

Schedule & Expectations

• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call obligation
• No block scheduling; scheduling is flexible to accommodate most needs
• Float requirement: throughout the facility

The ideal candidate is team-oriented and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Candidates without ICU experience and current ACLS/BLS will not be considered.
