Med/Surg Travel RN — Garden City, KS

12-Hour Days | 13-Week Contract | 36 Hours Guaranteed/Week

This Med/Surg unit manages a diverse adult population with a wide range of acute medical diagnoses, including congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, ia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-hour days
• 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling options available
• Holiday commitment required

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titration of drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• NIHSS assessments required
• Management of patients on CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and mechanical ventilation
• Charge nurses carry a patient assignment; nurse aides provide support on the unit
• No telemetry techs; monitor reading expectations should be discussed at interview

Float Requirements

• First to float; may float within the broader zone based on department need

Requirements

• Active RN license (must be submitted prior to placement)
• BLS and ACLS (both AHA)
• NIHSS certification
• BSN not required
• Must be present in state for the full week of orientation, even if initial modules are remote

• Duration: 13 weeks (91 days)
• Guaranteed hours: 36/week
• Cancellation policy: Up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
