13-Week Contract | Start Date: October 27, 2026
This fast-paced Medical-Surgical unit cares for a diverse patient population including general med-surg, post-operative general surgery, and orthopedic patients. The unit includes telemetry-capable beds, and travelers are expected to float to telemetry as needed.
Shift Details
- 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday rotation with core staff
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Self-scheduling with manager balancing; schedules posted 4 weeks out
Clinical Requirements
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
- Competency required in vasoactive/antiarrhythmic drips, including amiodarone and diltiazem
- Dysrhythmia competency exam (Basic) required prior to acceptance
- Float to telemetry required
Unit Support
- Charge nurse on shift (typically not carrying a full patient load)
- Nurse aides available based on census
- Respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and hospitalist/intensivist coverage available 24/7
Additional Details
- Scrubs: Navy; undershirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets optional and must be navy
- Floor orientation: 1–2 days with a preceptor
- Facility-wide orientation held in Sacramento (not at the unit's location)
- Two supervisor references required at submission (one within 12 months, one within 3 years)
- BSN not required; active California RN license required
