RN – Med/Surg Telemetry | Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE Unit)

Columbia, SC | Days | 13-Week Contract

This geriatric-focused Med/Surg Telemetry unit provides specialized, telemetry-capable care exclusively for hospitalized patients aged 65 and older. The unit's interdisciplinary team — including specially trained Geriatric Resource Nurses, physical therapy, pharmacy, respiratory services, and social services — focuses on preserving cognitive and physical function and returning patients to their pre-admission baseline.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Start date: November 2, 2026

Clinical Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Strong geriatric care background preferred
• Skills: IV starts, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line management, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, remote telemetry monitoring, heparin protocols

Certifications

• BLS and ACLS required
• Active South Carolina or multistate RN license required (no pending licenses)

Charting

• Minimum 1 year of electronic medical record experience required

Floating

• Float to other units or campuses may be required based on census; floating is limited to areas where documented competencies exist

Onboarding

• Orientation held every Monday
• Pre-assignment modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials; up to 16 hours of module time is reimbursable
