Psychiatric Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment on the night shift (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.). You will work across multiple psychiatric units serving diverse patient populations, with 48 guaranteed hours per week.

Unit Details

You'll float between five psychiatric units based on clinical need:

• ADOL: Adolescent patients (ages 12–18)
• Serenity & VINE: Lower-acuity adult patients
• ITU: Higher-acuity adults with thought disorder diagnoses
• SRAD: Older adults

Shift & Schedule

• 4 × 12-hour night shifts (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.)
• 48 guaranteed hours per week
• Seven-day-per-week coverage; weekends included
• Days off not guaranteed unless specified in contract
• Float assignments based on greatest clinical need

Required Qualifications

• Current BLS and CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
• Strong mental health assessment skills
• Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and medication monitoring
• Ability to develop individualized care plans
• Excellent therapeutic communication and active listening skills

Key Responsibilities

• Assess mental health status and behavioral changes
• Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for adverse reactions
• Provide crisis support to patients experiencing suicidal ideation or aggression
• Monitor vital signs and psychological symptoms
• Build therapeutic relationships with patients
• Document care using the facility's system

Dress Code

Nurses wear blue uniforms.
