ICU Travel RN — General Intensive Care Unit

Garden City, KS | 13-Week Contract | Nights

This general ICU position supports a rural facility that utilizes telehealth for critical care and pulmonology consultations, with an onsite hospitalist available for additional support. The unit manages a broad range of high-acuity presentations including chest pain, dyspnea, sepsis-related diagnoses, abdominal pain, headache, and traumatic injury.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Holiday commitment required

Clinical Expectations

• Titrate vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, and metabolic/specialized drips
• Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and mechanical ventilation
• Read and escalate telemetry strips independently (no monitor techs on unit)
• Respiratory Therapy is available on-site 24/7
• Charge nurses may carry a patient assignment
• Nurse aides available based on census

Float Requirements

First to float; may float within zone 4 during periods of extreme staffing need

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS
• CRRT

Additional Details

• Scrub color: Navy blue
• BSN not required
• Candidate interview required prior to placement
• Clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation
• Valid driver's license required; must reside within 60 miles of the facility
