ICU RN – 13-Week Contract

Position Overview

Join the intensive care unit for a 13-week assignment. You'll provide direct care to adult and geriatric patients with high-acuity conditions including post-operative recovery, acute stroke, sepsis, multisystem organ dysfunction, and hemodynamic instability.

Shift & Schedule

  • Days: 4 x 12-hour shifts (07:00–19:00)
  • Weekends: Every other weekend required
  • Self-scheduling model
  • Start: ASAP

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage ventilated patients and conscious sedation protocols
  • Care for central lines, arterial lines, and PICC lines
  • Administer IV medications, vasoactive drips, and blood products
  • Interpret ABGs and obtain 12-lead EKGs
  • Manage dysrhythmias and perform procedural sedation
  • Assist with chest tube insertions/removals and sheath removals
  • Support patients on high-flow oxygen, BiPAP/CPAP, and hypothermia protocols
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary services

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years RN experience
  • Current RN license (West Virginia or Compact; pending license accepted)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (American Heart Association)
  • Proficiency with telemetry, ventilator management, and conscious sedation
  • Central line care and arterial line management experience

Preferred

  • CCRN certification

Practical Details

  • 2-patient ratio
  • 12-hour orientation (held every other Monday)
  • Scrubs: Burgundy or wine color (not provided)
  • Permanent address required within 100 miles of the facility
