Progressive Care Unit RN — Cardiac/Cardiothoracic Post-Surgical

*Charleston, WV | Nights | 13-Week Contract*

This PCU position supports a progressive care unit dedicated to post-operative open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients requiring close cardiac monitoring. The unit also accepts medical/surgical overflow as census demands.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 3x12 or 4x12 options available (36- or 48-hour contract)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday RTO limited to no more than one of the three major holidays

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

• Post-op open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Critical drip management: amiodarone, cardizem, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, dopamine, argatroban
• Chest tube assistance, management, and removal
• Central line management
• External and internal pacemaker experience
• Wound VAC management
• Interdisciplinary support includes IV therapy, respiratory services, physical therapy, phlebotomy, and radiology

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a comparable setting
• BLS and ACLS required (AHA-issued)
• WV RN license or Compact License required
• Permanent address must be 100+ miles from the facility (75–99 miles considered case-by-case)
• 2 manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemption only)
• Float within scope possible to meet facility needs
