ED Holding Unit RN — Night Shift | Charleston, WV
Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: 3x12 nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 (RN's choice; OT after 48 hrs for 4x12 schedules)
Unit Overview
Schedule
- Night shifts: weekdays plus every other weekend (required)
- Float to ED may be required
- No on-call requirements
- Orientation held every other Thursday
Required Certifications
BLS, ACLS, PALS, and CPI (must be obtained at least one week before start date)
Licensure
Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for initial submission
Experience
- Minimum 2 years RN experience; at least 1 year in specialty
- First-time travelers accepted with appropriate experience
- MS/Tele and ER Holding experience preferred
Clinical Skills Required
- IV access including port access, blood product administration, peripheral line management
- Heparin protocols; cardiac drip management (no titration)
- Neurological/psychiatric care: CVA, seizures, substance withdrawal
- Respiratory management: CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, non-invasive airway management
- Care of ventilated patients and tracheostomy management preferred
Additional Details
- Scrub color: Royal Blue/White
- Electronic charting experience required
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only, October 1 – March 31)
- Free parking for travelers
- Candidates must reside 100+ miles from the facility (75–99 miles considered case-by-case)
