Medical Rehabilitation RN — Night Shift | Charleston, WV
This inpatient medical rehabilitation unit specializes in the recovery and functional restoration of adults managing complex neurological and physical conditions. Patient diagnoses include cerebrovascular disease, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, neuromuscular disease, and severe deconditioning related to cardiac or respiratory events. Average length of stay is approximately two weeks, with therapy provided three hours per day, Monday through Friday.
Care is delivered through a collaborative interdisciplinary model — each patient is supported by a physiatrist, nurse practitioner, RN, therapists, and a social worker working together on individualized recovery plans.
Schedule & Contract Details
- 13-week contract | Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36-hour (3x12) or 48-hour (4x12) weekly options available
- Every other weekend required | No on-call requirement
- Float within scope to other units as needed
- Block schedule requests considered — discuss during interview
Requirements
- Active West Virginia or Compact RN license (pending license accepted for submission; must be active prior to start)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; 1 year in specialty preferred
- Charge experience preferred; first-time travelers welcome
- BLS required — must be American Heart Association (AHA)
- Permanent address must be 100+ miles from the facility (75–99 miles reviewed case by case)

- Scrub color: Royal Blue/White or combination
- Orientation held every other Thursday
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemption with physician documentation accepted; required October 1 – March 31)
- COVID-19 vaccine not required
- 2 manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years required at submission
