Emergency Department RN — Travel Contract

Location: New York | Shift: Nights/Mids Rotation (19:00–07:00 / 11:00–23:00) | Contract: 13 Weeks

This position supports a medical Emergency Department that includes a co-located Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP). The ED manages a broad patient population across all age groups — from infants through geriatrics — presenting with acute-on-chronic conditions, behavioral health crises, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, sepsis, drug overdose, and ventilator-dependent care.

CPEP Details:

The CPEP unit operates within the ED and includes a medical evaluation space and an Extended Observation space. Patients are triaged and medically cleared before entering CPEP. Nursing staff rotate into CPEP in block assignments (6-hour blocks on days/mids; up to 12 hours on nights). A behavioral health team and security are present at all times.

Schedule & Logistics:

  • 3×12-hour rotating shifts (nights and mids)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Float required within the unit
  • Approximately 40 visits per day

Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of ED experience
  • Active New York RN license in hand at time of submission
  • Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
  • Electronic charting experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome

Clinical Skills: , dysrhythmia interpretation and management, procedural sedation, stroke and STEMI response, psychiatric holds, central line and chest tube management, intubation assistance, IV vasopressors, and ABG interpretation.

Interdisciplinary support includes pharmacy, respiratory therapy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams.
