Cath Lab / Interventional Radiology RN — Rochester, NY
Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Days, 4x10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
This combined Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology RN role serves an adult and geriatric patient population in a fast-paced procedural environment. Candidates must have hands-on experience in both settings — IR-only backgrounds will not be considered.
Clinical Scope
The unit manages patients requiring cardiac catheterization (diagnostic and interventional) as well as a full range of IR procedures, including:
- Left and right heart catheterization, PCI, cardiac stent placement, IABP placement/removal, and Impella insertion
- Pacemaker/defibrillator lead extraction, angioplasty, and Swan-Ganz/PA line monitoring
- Nephrostomy, embolization, uterine arterial embolization, renal angiography and stenting
- Liver and lung biopsy, paracentesis, gastrostomy tube placement, chest tube placement
- PICC/central venous access, port placement, dialysis graft creation/revision, endovascular interventions, and stent graft placement
RNs are also expected to demonstrate competency in phlebotomy and IV placement.
Call & Weekend Expectations
Expect 8–10 call shifts per month, including 1–2 weekend call shifts depending on scheduling rotation.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience
- Active New York RN license (required at time of submission)
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- Proficiency with electronic charting (required)
- Candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
- Float within the facility is required
- Scrubs are provided
Orientation: Approximately 40 hours, with pre-start modules required.
