Emergency Room RN — Adult ED | Rochester, NY | 13-Week Contract
This busy adult emergency department manages the full spectrum of emergency diagnoses across adult and geriatric populations, including stroke/CVA, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, cardiac dysrhythmias, orthopedic trauma, gunshot wounds, drug overdose, acute psychiatric presentations, and pediatric emergencies. The unit operates 24/7 with robust interdisciplinary support including rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and social services.
Shift & Schedule
- Rotating days and nights, 3×12-hour shifts (07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required, if needed
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
- Floating within skillset required
- Scrub color: Any combination of navy blue and white
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Active New York Single State RN license (must be in hand; NY is not a Compact state)
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (valid NIHSS must be included at submission)
Required Clinical Skills
- IV therapy: blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, IV placement and maintenance
- IV vasopressors; continuous IV sedation; procedural sedation monitoring
- Ventilator management; BiPAP/CPAP management
- Cardiac monitoring: 12-lead EKG acquisition, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Stroke/CVA care, neuro-trauma, TBI, spinal cord injury
- , isolation precautions, management of violent or suicidal patients
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department RN experience
- Electronic health record proficiency required (this is a hard requirement)
