Med/Surg Neuro RN — Night Shift | Wilmington, NC
This travel RN opportunity is on a dedicated neurology/neurosurgical unit caring for adult patients with stroke (CVA), neurosurgical diagnoses, and a range of neurological conditions. The unit provides robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response, and social services.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 18:45–07:15 (3x12-hour shifts)
- 36 or 48-hour weekly contracts accepted
- Contract length: 13–26 weeks
- 12–16 weekend shifts required per contract
Clinical Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or Neuro RN experience
- BLS required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- First-time travelers accepted
- Skills include: CVA management, heparin and insulin drips, IV insulin protocols, telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation, pre/post neurosurgery care, peripheral line management, surgical drains, and wound care
Additional Details
- Float within/near the facility is required
- Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or declared disasters
- 2 unit orientation shifts follow hospital-based orientation
- Pre-approved RTO up to 7 days (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Scrubs: Navy
- NC or Compact license accepted; pending licensure OK at submission
