Labor & Delivery RN – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week contract starting in October. You'll work nights (7 PM – 7:30 AM), four 12-hour shifts per week, in a busy teaching hospital L&D unit managing high-risk obstetric patients and neonatal care.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years L&D RN experience (first-time travelers: 3 years required)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP
- License: Active California RN license required at time of submission (no pending or temporary licenses)
- Vaccination: Flu vaccine required during flu season with no exemptions
- References: Two professional references from the past 12 months (supervisor level or above)
Scope & Responsibilities
You'll rotate through multiple roles:
- Labor & Delivery: Vaginal and cesarean deliveries, high-risk obstetrics
- Circulator: Assisting with surgical deliveries and D&C procedures
- Baby Nurse: Neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care
- : Obstetric patient assessment
- High-Risk Antepartum: Care for antepartum/postpartum complications including preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, multiple gestations, and preterm labor
Unit Details
- Census: 15–20 patients daily
- Weekend coverage: Every other weekend (minimum 6 shifts over 13 weeks)
- Floating required; no scheduling requests accommodated
- Facility performs 300+ deliveries monthly
