Labor & Delivery RN – Night Shift

Contract Details

  • Shift: 3x12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Position Overview

The facility's Labor & Delivery unit is a high-volume teaching hospital serving 300+ deliveries monthly. You'll care for women ages 13–60 across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum settings, including complex high-risk cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Float among L&D, circulator, baby nurse (neonatal resuscitation), , and high-risk antepartum roles
  • Manage vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, including high-risk and multiple gestations
  • Perform fetal monitoring, NSTs, IUPC placement, and internal fetal scalp electrode application
  • Assist with specialized procedures: D&C, cerclage, IUFD delivery
  • Provide neonatal resuscitation and postpartum/postoperative care
  • Support breastfeeding and lactation counseling

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years L&D RN experience (3 years for first-time travelers)
  • License: Active California RN license required at submission; no pending licenses
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced preferred
  • Flu vaccination: Required during flu season (no exemptions)
  • References: Two supervisor references from the past 12 months required
  • Flexibility: Every-other-weekend requirement; no scheduling requests accommodated

Unit Details

  • 22 L&D beds, 4 operating rooms, 3 PACU, 4 rooms, 12 high-risk antepartum/postpartum beds
  • Daily census: 15–20 patients
  • Interdisciplinary support: IV teams, respiratory, pharmacy, social services, rapid response
