Emergency Department RN — Travel Contract

Ranson, WV | 13-Week Contract | Days

This Emergency Department position offers 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) in a community-based ED caring for a broad range of adult and pediatric patients. The unit operates without a fast track and sees approximately 60 patients per day across a standard ED bed complement.

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

• Common presentations include CHF, COPD, diabetes, behavioral health, and substance use (high incidence of opioid overdose); approximately 10% pediatric volume
• RNs initiate and titrate all drips except chemotherapy
• RNs draw their own labs and perform difficult peripheral IV access for floor patients
• Respiratory support includes ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen — managed with RT support available 24/7
• RNs monitor cardiac rhythms and are expected to independently recognize and respond to dysrhythmias

Schedule & Requirements

• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Approximately 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; holiday rotation shared with permanent staff
• No floating required

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC, NIHSS

Additional Requirements

• Prior ED experience with strong IV skills required
• COVID vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs (self-provided); jackets in navy, grey, or black permitted — no hoodies
• Natural hair color; excessive tattoos must be covered
