Dialysis / Hemodialysis RN — Greensboro, NC | 13-Week Contract
This inpatient dialysis unit delivers hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and apheresis treatments seven days a week, around the clock. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics with end-stage renal disease, acute kidney injury, metabolic imbalances, dialysis access complications, and drug overdoses requiring renal replacement therapy. The apheresis caseload encompasses neurologic, renal, and hematologic/oncologic diagnoses.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM, 3×12s
- Rotating weekends (up to every other weekend, approximately 6 shifts per contract)
- On-call: Sunday nights only
- Float required across three campuses within the same health system
Clinical Scope
- Hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis (including bedside PD), and apheresis treatments
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac surveillance during treatments
- Bedside care for hemodynamically unstable ICU patients
- Average treatment length: 4–5 hours; average daily census: ~20 dialysis orders
Requirements
- Active RN license (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years acute care inpatient dialysis experience
- ACLS and BLS required
- Proficiency in AV fistula and AV graft cannulation, anticoagulation management, peritoneal dialysis, apheresis, dysrhythmia interpretation, and related renal nursing skills
- EKG competency exam required (2 attempts allowed)
- Electronic health record experience required
- No local candidates within 50 miles; current driver's license required
- COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Time-off requests must be submitted with the application
