Surgical Stepdown RN – 12-Hour Night Shifts
About the Role
The facility's surgical stepdown unit provides intermediate care for post-operative patients transitioning from critical care. You'll care for patients recovering from cardiothoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, trauma, and transplant procedures. This is a fast-paced environment requiring strong clinical judgment and independent decision-making.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend
- Every other holiday
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 13-week contract
What You'll Do
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythm strips independently
- Manage post-operative patients at intermediate acuity levels
- Work with automated medication dispensing systems
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient recovery
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years recent acute care experience
- Surgical stepdown experience (mandatory)
- IMCU/stepdown experience
- More than one previous travel assignment
- Current ACLS certification
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry independently
- Willingness to complete telemetry and critical care medication competency assessments on day one
Preferred
- Tertiary facility experience
- Exposure to high-acuity surgical populations
