PACU Nurse – 12-Hour Rotation
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced PACU nurse for a 12-hour day/evening rotation in a busy post-operative recovery unit. This is a 13-week contract role supporting a high-volume surgical program.
Schedule
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Evening Shift: 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM
- Potential rotation up to 50% between shifts
- Monday–Friday; no weekends, no holidays, no call
- May float to inpatient PACU as needed
- Unit operates 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM
What You'll Do
You'll provide phase 1 post-operative recovery care for complex surgical cases including neuro, thoracic, vascular, and ortho spine procedures. The unit manages 18–30 cases daily across trauma, pediatric, orthopedic, and general surgery populations. You'll independently manage telemetry monitoring, interpret rhythm strips, and identify cardiac arrhythmias including heart blocks.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years PACU experience
- Strong expertise in phase 1 recovery for complex cases
- Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry strips and identify heart blocks
- Pass telemetry competency assessment on Day 1 (85% or higher)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
