Travel RN – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) | Englewood, CO
Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 13-Week Contract
This is a high-acuity cardiac progressive/intermediate care unit serving a complex patient population requiring close monitoring and specialized cardiovascular nursing care. The unit operates at a fast pace with a collaborative, experienced team.
Clinical Scope
Nurses on this unit manage a broad range of cardiac and thoracic patients, including:
- Post-catheterization care (right and left heart caths, TAVRs, ablations, Watchman procedures, pacemaker implantations)
- Pre- and post-operative open-heart surgical patients (CABGs, mitral and aortic valve replacements, aortic dissection repairs)
- Post-thoracic surgery care (VATs/RATs, resections, lobectomies, chest tube management)
- Vascular surgery post-op care and neurovascular checks
Nurses administer vasoactive and cardiac drips including heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, dobutamine, milrinone, and ketamine. O2 management up to BIPAP and heated high-flow is routinely performed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of current acute care PCU experience
- Active BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
- RN license (or compact eligibility) for Colorado
Preferred Skills
- Chest tube management and removal
- Pacer wire removal
- 12-lead EKG acquisition and interpretation
Shift & Schedule Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Start date: September 7, 2026
