Cardiac & Stroke Telemetry Unit — Travel RN | Night Shift | Salisbury, NC

This is a high-acuity, high-volume cardiac and stroke telemetry unit serving adult patients with complex cardiac and neurological diagnoses. The unit functions as the primary destination for cardiac and stroke patients, with a rapid patient turnover of 78–90 patients per week — nurses should be prepared to turn over a full patient assignment within a single shift.

Shift & Schedule

  • Nights: 18:45–07:15 | 3x12-hour shifts
  • Contract: 13 weeks (through late February)
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend; 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per 6-week period
  • On-call: Yes, frequency based on census
  • Float: Required within the facility
  • No block scheduling; self-scheduling with leadership oversight

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

  • Pre/post care: pacemaker implantation, ICD placement, cardiac catheterization, TR band management, peripheral vascular interventions
  • Diagnoses include: unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA/TIA, low-risk chest pain
  • Titration of cardiac drips: Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone, and others
  • Management of COVID-positive patients on high-flow oxygen and chronic BiPAP

Required Skills & Certifications

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a similar acuity setting
  • Strong cardiac telemetry and drip titration skills required
  • IV starts, heparin protocols, dysrhythmia interpretation, central/peripheral line management
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • NC or Compact license (pending acceptable at submission)

Additional Details

  • Orientation: 36 hours; must be available daily during week one
  • Scrubs: Navy or white; facility-branded shirts permitted
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • RTO: Up to 7 days pre-approved; no additional RTO requests after signing
