Cardiac Telemetry – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its cardiac telemetry unit, a fast-paced environment managing high-acuity cardiac and stroke patients. This is a night shift, travel contract position.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 3x12-hour nights (18:45–07:15)
- Days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
Unit Overview
This is the facility's primary cardiac and stroke unit. You'll provide care for stable pre/post-procedure patients including pacemaker implantations, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterizations, and interventional peripheral vascular procedures. The unit typically turns over 78–90 patients per week, with a team lead assisting with admissions and discharges.
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
- Pre/post cardiac catheterization and sheath removal
- Dysrhythmia management and interpretation
- Cardiac drip titration (Cardiazem, Dopamine, Amiodarone, etc.)
- Unstable angina and low-risk chest pain evaluation
- Post-stroke and TIA patients
- High-flow oxygen therapy and BiPAP (chronic use only)
- Telemetry monitoring and central line management
Staffing & Requirements
- Float Requirement: Yes
- Call Requirement: Yes (frequency based on census)
- Minimum Experience: 2 years in high-acuity, busy unit (similar ratios and acuity)
- First-time travelers and locals welcome
Required Certifications & Skills
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- IV insertion and telemetry monitoring
- Cardiac drip management and titration
- Dysrhythmia recognition
- Non-invasive airway management
Orientation
36 hours; must be available daily during week one for hospital orientation.
Dress Code
Navy blue or white scrubs (or mix); Novant t-shirts acceptable; matching jackets (non-fleece); no crocs with holes.
Important Notes
- RTO: Maximum 7 days pre-approved; no RTO during first week; cannot request additional time off after signing
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- EKG testing required prior to start
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Strong call-off policy enforcement
