Emergency Room RN — Travel Contract | Bryan, TX
This 13-week travel assignment places you in a busy, high-acuity Emergency Department serving a diverse patient population across two campuses approximately 16 minutes apart. Floating between locations is required as needed.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour midshift with varied start times between 1100–1300
- Every other weekend required
- First to float
- 48 hours guaranteed per week (36-hour guarantee considered on a case-by-case basis)
- Hybrid scheduling: combination of self-scheduling and block scheduling
Unit Overview
The ED manages approximately 135 patients daily, including general acute care, pediatric (10–15% of volume), geriatric, and trauma patients. The department features a vertical care (fast track) area, a separate zone, and integrated holds and psychiatric patients within the main ED. Security is on-site 24/7, including a dedicated officer within the department. Respiratory therapy is assigned to the ED around the clock.
Common Diagnoses & Procedures
Chest pain, nausea/vomiting, fever, altered mental status, multi-system trauma (falls, MVAs, assaults, GSW), intubation, chest tubes, and rapid transfusions. Common drips include diltiazem, nicardipine, nitroglycerin, propofol, fentanyl, and levophed.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience in a comparable high-volume setting
- Active certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
- Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (83%) before contract start — 3 attempts permitted
- Precepting may be required as needed

- Scrubs: Navy (undershirts must be navy; jackets optional)
- 3-shift department orientation
- Call-outs are strongly discouraged and may result to termination
- Holiday rotation with core staff (1 major holiday)
- No on-call requirement
