Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced IMCU nurse to join a mixed-specialty stepdown unit. You'll care for a dynamic patient population including intermediate care, neurology, and medical-surgical patients in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule & Duration
- 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Every other weekend and holiday
- 36-hour minimum weekly commitment
- 13-week contract
Clinical Scope
The unit manages high-acuity patients including those recovering from cardiac events, with chronic mechanical ventilation, tracheostomies, and decompensated heart failure. You'll work with a mix of neurological, cardiac, and general medical-surgical patients requiring complex care coordination.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year IMCU experience
- 2+ years recent med-surg and telemetry experience
- Demonstrated competency in neuro care, MI management, and trach care
- Ability to manage patients with complex medical needs
- Proficiency with automated medication dispensing systems
- Strong telemetry interpretation skills (competency test on day 1)
- BLS certification required
