Medical/Surgical RN — Travel Contract

Garden City, KS | 13-Week Assignment | Days

This Med/Surg unit manages a diverse acute-care patient population with diagnoses including congestive heart failure, hypertension and chest pain workups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, ia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Holiday requirement applies
• Call/standby determined by nurse manager

Clinical Expectations

• RNs titrate drips independently, including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• Respiratory equipment in use: CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and ventilators
• Charge nurse carries a patient assignment
• Nurse aide support available on the unit

Float Requirements

• First to float; may be asked to float within the designated zone based on department need

Requirements

• BLS and ACLS (both AHA)
• NIHSS certification required
• Valid RN license — must be submitted prior to placement
• Clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation
• Residence must be at least 60 miles from the facility; valid driver's license required

Contract Details

• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• 91-week contract duration (13-week increments)
• Start date: October 26, 2026
• Scrub color: Navy blue
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
