Med Surg

Med/Surg RN — Night Shift | Garden City, KS

This 13-week contract (with a 91-week potential) places you on a busy Medical/Surgical unit caring for a diverse adult patient population. The unit manages a wide range of acute conditions, including congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, ia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Minimum 6–9 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Holiday requirement applies
• Call/standby determined by Nurse Manager

Clinical Details

• NIHSS competency required
• RNs titrate drips independently (analgesics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives)
• Respiratory support includes CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and ventilator management
• Nurse aides available on unit
• Charge nurse carries an assignment

Floating

• First-to-float designation; may float within the zone based on extreme staffing need

Requirements

• Active RN license (must be submitted prior to start)
• BLS and ACLS (AHA) required
• NIHSS experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Candidate must be present in-state for the full week of orientation
• Driver's license required; must reside within 60 miles of the facility

Contract Details

• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Scrubs: Navy blue
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Start date: October 26, 2026
