Emergency Department RN — Salinas, CA | Night Shift | 13-Week Contract
This Emergency Department position offers 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) in a busy, high-acuity ED serving a broad and diverse patient population — from pediatric to elderly — including a wide range of trauma presentations such as motor vehicle accidents, penetrating wounds, and fall-related injuries.
Unit Overview
The ED maintains 24/7 coverage and sees high daily patient volumes across a full spectrum of acuity levels. A dedicated Charge RN and break nurses are available throughout each shift and carry no patient assignments. Travel RNs will not be assigned trauma patients. First-time travelers are welcome in this department.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Scheduled in 4-week blocks with shift rotation
- Every other weekend required
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Active California RN license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS (all issued through American Heart Association)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS certification
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience
Additional Details
- Scrubs: Any professional color; no outside facility logos
- Orientation held Mondays only; includes HR paperwork, Occupational Health fit testing, medication competency exam, and unit preceptorship
- Contract duration: 13 weeks
