Travel Nurse – Telemetry / Med-Surg | Fort Madison, IA
13-Week Contract | Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 36 Hours/Week
This surge-support position places you on a Telemetry/Med-Surg unit caring for adult, geriatric, and medical-surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring and general inpatient care.
Clinical Scope
- Manage telemetry-monitored patients alongside general medical-surgical and geriatric populations
- Apply the full nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation
- Float requirement is active — you may be assigned to other non-critical-care inpatient units, including coverage for boarded patients in the Emergency Department
- Occasional float to affiliated campuses may be required
- Low-census call may occur; on-call response to the unit within one hour is expected
Schedule & Hours
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Estimated 36 hours/week; overtime possible
- Every-other-holiday rotation required
Requirements
- Active RN license
- ACLS certification
- Experience in a telemetry or med-surg telemetry unit within the last 12 months
- Telemetry competency: Upon acceptance, candidates must self-study dysrhythmia interpretation and pass a Basic Dysrhythmia test during the first week of orientation — this is required to work the unit
