Telemetry / Med-Surg Travel Nurse — Fort Madison, IA
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks (with potential extension)
Estimated Hours: 36 hours/week, with overtime possible
About the Role
This position supports a Telemetry/Med-Surg unit during surge and is open to experienced travel nurses comfortable with a fast-paced, high-acuity inpatient environment. The unit serves adult, geriatric, medical/surgical, and telemetry patient populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care using the full nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation
- Manage telemetry patients and interpret cardiac rhythms; self-study of telemetry strips is required upon acceptance
- A Basic Dysrhythmia test-out is administered during orientation and must be passed to work on the unit
- Float to other non-critical care inpatient units, including the Emergency Department for boarded patients, as needed; occasional float to nearby campuses may be required
- Participate in an every-other-holiday rotation
- May be placed on call during low-census periods; must be able to arrive on-site within one hour if called in
Requirements
- Active RN license
- ACLS certification required
- Recent experience in a Telemetry or Med-Surg unit within the last 12 months
- Familiarity with electronic medical records documentation required
