Emergency Department RN — Night Shift | Nashua, NH
This is a 12-week contract opportunity in a free-standing Emergency Department, working night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). Every other weekend is required.
The Unit
The ED manages a high-acuity, diverse patient population including complex cardiac conditions, DKA, sepsis, trauma, and stroke. RNs operate under protocol-driven care based on chief complaint, independently completing workups for labs, EKG, X-rays, and medications to initiate patient care. RNs also run point-of-care lab testing for all patients and collaborate with providers to complete medical screening exams within 10 minutes of arrival.
Procedures Performed
- Trauma and stroke care
- Laceration repair and orthopedic trauma management
- Ultrasound-guided IV and IO insertion
- Eye exams, EKG interpretation, psychiatric care
- Cardiopulmonary care
Float: Within the main ED only — no cross-unit floating.
Dress Code: Scrubs required; no hooded shirts or sweatshirts.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience (required for contract labor)
- Active BLS, ACLS, PALS, MOAB, and TNCC certifications
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- EKG interpretation skills strongly preferred
