Neuro/Ortho Medical-Surgical RN | Waco, TX | 13-Week Contract

This travel nursing opportunity is on a Neuro/Ortho unit caring for patients with neurological and orthopedic conditions. The role involves managing a varied patient population requiring both acute clinical assessment and coordinated discharge planning.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Anticipated start: October 25, 2026

Clinical Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor individualized patient care plans
• Assess and document neurological and orthopedic patient conditions; communicate changes promptly
• Execute physician and nursing orders accurately
• Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions
• Assess and facilitate discharge planning needs throughout the patient stay
• Apply critical thinking and decisive judgment with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

• Scrub color: Navy or maroon

Required Credentials & Certifications

• Active RN license (Nursys verification required)
• Skills checklist required for submission
• Two professional references required
• Specialty exam and core competency assessments completed upon onboarding
• Standard immunization and health history documentation required (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Influenza, TB screening)
• Background check and drug screen required prior to start

Ideal Candidate

• Experience in med-surg, neuro, or orthopedic nursing
• Comfortable working independently in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and care coordination skills
