MedSurg / Infectious Disease RN — Travel Contract
Parkersburg, WV | 13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Nights | Start: October 3, 2026
This travel RN role is on a dedicated Medical-Surgical / Infectious Disease unit caring for patients in private isolation rooms. The unit manages a diverse caseload including COVID, MRSA, C. diff, and a wide range of other infectious disease diagnoses requiring strict isolation precautions.
Shift & Scheduling
- 12-hour nights: 1900–0730
- Every-other-weekend required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday for night shift)
- Holiday coverage based on unit need
- Block scheduling available when unit needs are met
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Clinical Scope
- 2 CNAs on each shift; Charge Nurse available 24/7 (night charge carries a full assignment)
- IV drip management includes Heparin and standard MedSurg medications and antibiotics — no cardiac drips
- Respiratory support (CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow) managed by Respiratory Therapy; no vents
- Remote telemetry monitored off-unit; RNs are not required to read or interpret strips
- Float requirement to other MedSurg units; Tele floats are within candidate's documented skillset
Requirements
- Active RN license (West Virginia or compact)
- BLS (AHA) — only required certification
- Strong MedSurg and infectious disease background required
- Solid experience with isolation precautions essential
- Travel nursing experience required
Orientation: Two days of structured orientation (classroom + preceptor), independent practice beginning day three.
Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs; scrub jacket optional but must be royal blue — no hoodies or sweatshirts.
